Bath Bomb Fizzies!
I made bath bomb yesterday. I didn’t have chance to work on this at all. I am going to add bath bomb making in my course, too. Thai people hardly know about “Bath Bomb” One of the thing is we don’t have bath tub like you do in America or some other countries. It is difficult to use here.
This is a pink bath bomb that I made yesterday. I took a picture of how they turned out in the water. Bath Bomb is fun to make and easier than soap. It took me 15 minutes or less than that.
My favourite recipe :
1 cup baking soda
1 cup citric acid
1/2 cup corn starch
1 teaspoon sweet almond oil
3-4 spritz of jasmin rice milk fragrance
Food Colouring
5-6 spritz of witch harzel
Dry flowers or herbs
Mold (I couldn’t find a nice round mold here)
I really like the jasmin rice milk scent. My hands still smell so good and soft after I tried these bath bombs last night.
Enjoy!

My favourite CP recipe

This is a soap recipe that I really love it. This batch I made for monk. I had a post about “Soap for Monk” 2-3 months ago. I donated this batch to monk but I kept one of them to try.
My recipe is: (700 grams)
Coconut Oil 140 grams
Palm Kernel Oil 140 grams
Palm Oil 175 grams
Rice Bran Oil 175 grams
Castor Oil 70 grams
Lye 101 grams
Water 266 grams
Sodium Lactate 14 grams
Bubbly, Creamy and hard enough after using a while eventhough the cleansing number is over the average but I don’t see my skin gets too dry from using this recipe. I don’t like using Olive Oil because the soap is too soft when you have been using for a while. I know that Olive Oil is good for your skin but that is just my thought. (Olive Oil is very expensive in Thailand, too) I used my soap and my handmade lotion. wow! what a wonderful life!
I just bought a white Thai silkworm cocoon yesterday. I found them accidentally at weekend market. This is just for your information. I will call them ” Silkworm cocoon cleansing ball”
This kind of silkworm cocoon can be used to scrub your nose to eliminate those black pore, acne, dark spot and deeply clean the leftover oil in the pore. It contains lots of protein and won’t irritae your skin. It also can help you to completely clean the facial cosmetics after discharging makeup, which makes the skin clean and refresh. I will use this silkworm cocoon with my soap next time, too.
How to use :
1. Put the Silkworm cocoons into 40℃ warm water for 3-4 minutes until softened.
2. Fit the softened cocoons onto your fingertip, and massage face gently, especially, in nose area.
3. using 2-3 times per week for better result.
FYI, using each Silkworm Cocoon for one-time, for multiple-use may reduces the quality of sericin.

Charcoal Glycerin Soap from Student
I received an e-mail from one of my student telling me that she made a charcoal glycerin soap. She said this is her first soap making. She was very happy and made me proud of her. She can use an ingredient (charcoal) that she can find them easily at her hometown. If I am not wrong, she said that her relative works about charcoal stuffs,so, it will be easy to make soap and other kind of skincare products using what she has.

Update: Soap making class
Just want to update picture of my soap making class.
I have 3 people came the other day.
They wanted to learn how to make natural soap, lotion and scrub. They are same family and have their own business. They are making and producing virgin coconut oil and they would like to know how to make soap using their own product. I explained them that they can use 100% of coconut oil to make soap but the skin will get too dry and I just study one more thing from a skin doctor that coconut oil has a high risk to get pimple and rash. I never know that before. I have a list of what to have and not in my recipe.
Khun som is making a layer on natural soap. We added silkworm cocoon when we mixed lye to get a silk protein.
Khun tukta is measuring her ingredients. She is making a lotion. I taught them to make a Barley Rice Milk Body Lotion and added Jasmin Rice Milk Scent. Feel so good
I love Barley Rice Milk Lotion.
It was a tiring day but I am happy. I started the class from 9am until 7.30pm. I was soo tired haha! After the class, I won’t be able to clean it up before my leg was so numb.
I love teaching very much!
Thank you for watching.
Update: Soap making class
Just want to update my soap making class.
Khun nuch is making her lotion. I can take one picture of her because we started the class quite late. We haven’t made cupcake soap yet but she will come back and make one.

Khun Ying just came yesterday. Khun Ying learn how to make soap, lotion and scrub.

Khun ying has an idea about using nano teachnology in her skincare products,so, we tried that yesterday.

My sweet soap stamp
I made this batch last week but I didn’t have a chance to post the pics. I made this batch with my new acrylic slab mold. It is difficult to unmold them but it is ok. The soap skin didn’t look smooth. They look like they’ve been in many wars haha!

This batch I used the same recipe. I used 700 grams of oil. I used coconut oil, palm kernel oil, palm oil, rice bran oil and castor oil. I added “cherry pink” scent. I just bought from a fragrance shop and would like to try. It is good, the soap didn’t trace too fast.

After I cut them, I used the stamps that my husband bought for me. They are lovely. I like the one with wording ” Handmade with love”

I am going downstair to unmold another batch. I used sandalwood scent this time. Will show picture soon

My Ginseng Soap

I made my ginseng soap together with another batch. I keep making many batches since it will be ready for this coming New Year. I will give them to my friends and some of them I will sell at the gift fair on Dec21-25, 2009.

Ginseng roots help reduce acne, wrinkles, freckles, scar, dark spots, an adaptogen with reference to its antioxidant properties.
I added ginseng roots into lye water when the temperature is 50 c. Then, I stirred them little just like the silkworm cocoon. You will see the lye water change the color to little brown. Pour the lye water into oil but not the used ginseng roots.

Then, stirred them together. I made 3-4 layers for this batch. The black line in the soap is a mangoesteen powder. I used camomile scent. I love it. The Thai camomile scent is yak! The American Camomile scent is lovely!

I added pieces of soap that made long time ago into this batch.

After I cut them

Mantra Swirl after cut

I just cut this soap yesterday. It turned out ok but not what I expected. The colour looks like a two tone chocolate. I made a ginseng soap yesterday. I added a chinese ginseng into lye water. I will show you picture later.

Goat Milk Soap (first attempt – failed)

Again this is my first attempt and I didn’t like it. I hated the smell of goat milk plus the smell of beef tallow but I wanted to finish them. Khun na (My friend) bought me 2 bottles of goat milk and I still have some beef tallow left from my zebra batch,so, I would like to finish them.
I put the goat milk in the freeze. When I poured a sodium hydroxide into the goat milk, the colour has changed to more brown. I assumed that my goat milk was burn as I studied from many sources.

I forgot to tell you that I added stearic acid in this batch, too. I seperated little bit of oil into a pitcher and added 2 % of stearic acid. I heated them on a double boiler and make sure that the stearic acid was melted. When I calculated this recipe from soapcalc.net,I also included stearic acid in the calculation.

This is a picture of soap after I poured and made some swirl on top. NOT A GOOD ONE. I used a devider to cut the soap.

I covered the soap with a lid.

I packed my goat milk saop in a post box. I bought this box from a post office and have no chance to use it yet and I wrapped with a thick blanket. This blanket, my mother in law made for me. It’s a handmade. Wow! I think she wanted me to cover myself at night but Thailand is very very very hot. So, I think it would be o.k to use with my soap.

This is a picture of soap after I took the devider out this morning.

After I cut, there’s a soda ash on top of soap. I rinse the soap with water and it’s gone. The problem is I think I cut them too early this morning. I should let them sit for another 2-3 hours but I couldn’t wait.

Mantra Swirl by Sonnee
First of all, I would like to say this is my first attempt making a Mantra Swirl. I know it isn’t good enough but I will try again next batch.
I made 2 batches of soap today and organized my messy stuffs at the same time. I am very tired now, about to go to bed but waiting for a call from my husband. He probably still asleep since it is 5.30am in Washington. I made this mantra swirl and I got the inspiration from khun song (one of my favourite soap maker) It is a time to try my new acrylic mold, too. I used log mold which can devide 6 bars of soap. I will not cut them tomorrow because I will wait for my new soap cutter which will arrive next week. (It is saturday night here)
I poured the soap when it was in a medium trace (thick enough)
I seperated 2 colours with a long acrylic piece.

I picked the acrylic piece up. The soap stayed still because it’s thick enough.

Start the Mantra Swirl
I have to say thank you to khun na (my another friend) She came to my house to pick up a lip blam container and helped me holding the acrylic piece, taking these pictures and pour another colour into mold.
